Our Mission

STRIVE Initiatives, Inc. confronts deeply rooted injustices in our community—from low voter morale and unsolved violent crimes to broken educational systems and barriers for returning citizens.

At the heart of our work is a belief: every person deserves a real chance at life—especially those returning from incarceration who have paid their debt to society.

We don’t just talk about equity—we create it through action. Through reentry programs, civic engagement, and community-centered events, we fight for a future where no one is left behind.

Our Vision

STRIVE envisions a world where people are not defined by their past, but empowered by their future. We believe in:

Equity — Access to the resources needed to thrive

Opportunity — Real chances for economic and social mobility

Transformation — Healing communities through strategic, collective action

Our Story

After her wrongful conviction, Courtney experienced firsthand the systemic obstacles facing formerly incarcerated people. Her journey became the catalyst for building STRIVE—a nonprofit dedicated to reentry support, policy reform, and community transformation.

Despite being wrongfully incarcerated and sentenced to 15 years, I refused to be broken. I used my time to educate, uplift, and empower others behind bars. That’s where STRIVE was born—in the fire of injustice, forged with purpose.
— Courtney Rainey, Founder of STRIVE
